Spare Space Storage
S pare Space storage, which opened early this summer, is a pleasant and friendly facility, designed to accommodate a large range of storage products and ancillary services.
The three-story, Class-A storage facility was built in an emerging area of northwest Austin. Developer
Kenny Hill used an existing MST Constructors, Inc. design project in north Austin as a pattern. Hill
asked MST to help him design a similar facility that more closely blended his vision of storage with
the geographic market demands. The MST team developed a plan that utilized local proudcts such as Austin
limestone exterior, along with complimentary metal and exterior insulation finishing system (EIFS) trim.
The building features a signature tower and stars, and its architectural motif matches the area's
booming apartment and retail architecture. The oversized doors and high bays on the bottom floor allow
expansions and variable uses.
MST implemented some of the industry's best products and suppliers to guarantee success, including products from US Door, PTI Security Systems, MBCI Ultra Deck roofing, and building systems by MST.
Co-owner Shelli Hill designed the attractive interior design and homey ambiance. MST owner James Bratton credits the Hills with a design that "takes the edge" off the commercial structure.
